How to differentiate Multiple myeloma from Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia?

Asked by Doctor Strange

1. The peak incidence of Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM) is 60-70 years whereas for multiple myeloma (MM), it is 50-60 years.

2. The M spike in WM is IgM whereas in MM it is usually IgG (50%).

3. The intensely eosinophilic plasma cells are classic for WM.
